The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR sports a half-fairing, kind of like a modern-day cafe racer, with a round headlight with a distinctive LED DRL. The clip-ons are lower than the 1200 RS, and the footpegs have been moved back and higher, offering a more committed and sporty riding position.

Design & Ergonomics

The Speed Triple 1200 RR shares the same frame, subframe, engine and fuel tank as the 1200 RS. Visually, the only difference seems to be the round retro-styled headlight with a distinctive LED DRL, as well as the half-fairing. But there are other ergonomic changes. The clip-on handlebars are lower, and the footpegs have been moved back, offering a more aggressive, track-focussed riding position. The RR features carbon fibre infill panels and detailing to the tank, fairing and cockpit. Additionally there are also new carbon fibre side panels as well as a carbon fibre front mudguard.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR shares the same 1,160 inline three-cylinder engine with the RS, which makes 178 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 9,250 rpm.

Engine & Performance

Built around the latest generation Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS, the engine of the Speed Triple 1200 RR has been left unchanged. So, it makes the same 178 bhp at 10,750 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 9,250 rpm. The engine is paired with a stacked six-speed transmission and a slip-and-assist clutch. A quick shifter derived from Triumph's involvement in the Moto2 championship comes standard. On upshifts, the Triumph Shift Assist adjusts ignition, fuel and throttle angle to relieve pressure on the gears. For downshifts, the system controls throttle blips for smoother gear changes.

There are four riding modes to choose from, Rain, Road, Sport, Track, and a user-configurable mode. Both the front and rear suspension are fully adjustable, and the semi-active system continuously adjusts compression and rebound damping to match riding style, speed and acceleration.

The half-fairing and round headlight distinguishes the RR, along with the lower clip-on handlebars, offering a more track-focussed riding position.

The 17-inch cast aluminium wheels are the same as the Speed Triple 1200 RR, but now come shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. For even stronger performance, Triumph offers track use-only Diablo Supercorsa SC2 V3 tyres. Braking duties are handled by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers gripping 320 mm twin discs on the front wheel, while a Brembo twin-piston caliper grips a 220 mm single disc on the rear wheel. Seat height is at 830 mm, while kerb weight is 199 kg.
