Nissan India today announced to increase car prices in India from January 2017. The price hike will be across its Nissan and Datsun range of models and the cost will rise by up to INR 30,000. According to Nissan, the move comes in wake of increasing input costs. In fact, home-grown carmaker Tata Motors also recently announced its plan to increase car prices by Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000 from January 2017.

Talking about the price hike decision, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, "The price increase comes as a result of rising input costs. The revision of prices will help us offset the impact of this and maintain our competitiveness in the industry." The company sells a range of vehicles under the Nissan and Datsun brands starting with entry level small car Datsun Go priced at Rs 3.28 lakh to the newly launched Nissan GT-R priced at Rs. 1.99 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

This year Nissan launched two new cars in India - the entry level small car from the Datsun family redi-Go at the first half of 2016 and much recently the legendary Nissan GT-R sports coupe, which went on sale early this month. A few months back the carmaker even announced a heavy price cut of the Nissan Micra CVT version making it one of the most affordable CVT hatches in the country.

As for next year, Nissan India had earlier announced that it will be launching the new-gen X-Trail Hybrid SUV at the start of 2017. The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid will be the country's first full-fledged hybrid SUV in its segment and India is only the 4th market to get this popular SUV from the Japanese carmaker. Nissan is also planning to bring the new generation Micra hatchback to India next year, but sadly it wouldn't be the one that was showcased at the Paris Motor Show.

In India, Nissan has been expanding its innovative and exciting product range across hatchback, sedan, SUV and compact MPV. Now with the addition of the GT-R, the high-performance sportscar segments as well.
