Should You Buy A Used Datsun Redi-GO? Here Are Some Pros And Cons

Datsun India is one of the few auto brands that have stopped vehicle production in India in the last couple of years. Earlier in 2022, Nissan pulled the plug on the Datsun brand in India, thereby discontinuing all its models including its best-selling model the Redi-GO. The Datsun Redi-GO was launched in 2016, and it’s based on the same CMF-A platform as the Renault Kwid. While the car is no longer on sale in India, you can still find one in the used car market, but before you start looking for one, here are some pros and cons you must consider first.

A used Redi-GO will come quite cheap. Depending on the condition of the car, you can get one for around Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh.

Pros

1. The Datsun Redi-GO is a really good city car. It’s compact, the steering is light and it also handle nicely. Datsun also had an AMT version on offer, which can be a boom in stop-and-go traffic. Plus it had the highest ground clearance in its class at 185 mm.
2. Depending on the variant you get, Redi-GO offers a range of smart features like - LED daytime running lamps, LED taillights, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
3. A used Redi-GO is quite cheap. Depending on the model year and condition of the car, you can get one for around Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh.

While cabin is decently spaced, the quality of materials used for the interior is not the best. 

Cons

1. The Datsun brand has been discontinued in India, and while right now there is nothing to worry about, in the long-run after-sale and parts availability could become an issue. So, take that into consideration. 
2. While cabin is decently spaced, the quality of materials used for the interior is not the best. There are exposed panels that reveal sheet metal, and the plastic quality could certainly have been better. 
3. While the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine of the car is fairly decent, the 800 cc version is quite dull to drive. Also, while the AMT unit does its job, it’s not very responsive.
