Toyota lifts lockout at its Indian factories

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant Toyota, has said that it will resume the production at its Indian plants, which was halted because of a dispute between the worker union and management. (Read about the dispute and the company's view point here)
"The Company has submitted to the Deputy Labour Commissioner that considering the inclination and in the interest of majority law abiding team members, we have decided to lift the lock out implemented vide notice dated March 16, 2014 ", reads a statement released by the company.
Workers are asked to resume work after signing a simple undertaking on good conduct. "We wish to thank the Govt. of Karnataka for their valuable advice concerning our operation.", the company said in the statement.
Karnataka labour department will decide on wage revision for Financial Year 2013-14 post enquiry. Toyota India has suspended 17 workers for 'indiscipline and misconduct' at its twin factories near Bengaluru.
