Tesla is set to commence its India innings this month with the inauguration of its first showroom in the country on July 15. The dealership, located in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, will be the company’s first outlet in the country, with a second understood to be opening in Delhi.

Currently, Tesla has not revealed any concrete model plans for the Indian market, though based on spy shots of the new Model Y (Juniper) SUV in the country, it could be the first model to arrive in India. The Model Y is offered with multiple powertrain options in global markets, including rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants.

Tesla Model Y spied in India

With Tesla seemingly uninterested in setting up manufacturing operations in the country at this point, the Model Y will likely arrive as a CBU import, which could mean that it could be priced on the higher side. As for other models, the Model 3 sedan could also be under consideration for India.

Tesla also sells the more premium Model S sedan, Model X SUV and the Cybertruck in global markets, which could also make their way to the Indian market. Expect more details to be available in due course.
