Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2022 WagonR in India at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs. 5.40 lakh for the base 1.0-litre LXI variant and going up to Rs. 7.10 lakh for the range-topping ZXI+ dual-tone automatic variant. Yes! The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is now available in dual-tone body colour options as well and comes with alloy wheels in the top-end variant. The dual-tone exterior design option will be available in the ZXi+ variant and in two new colour combinations - Gallant Red with Black roof and Magma Grey with Black roof.

On the inside, the WagonR continues with the dual-tone theme and the 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio with smartphone navigation integration. It now also gets cloud-based services to offer app-based connected car features. As far as engine options go, the new Maruti Suzuki WagonR continues with the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, and 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine options, while CNG and H3 Tour variants are also on offer. The 1.0-litre engine delivers impressive fuel efficiency of 25.19 kmpl in the VXI AGS iteration which Maruti claims is around 16 per cent than the outgoing model. The S-CNG variant delivers a fuel economy of 34.05 km per Kg which too is higher by approximately 5 per cent.

The factory-fitted S-CNG option is now available in both LXI and VXI variants powered by 1.0 engine. The 1.2-litre mill with the idle start-stop (ISS) function delivers 24.43 kmpl in the ZXI AGS and ZXI+ AGS variants which are higher by approximately 19 per cent compared to its predecessor. Quite obviously, the new WagonR is available in both Manual and Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) transmission options.

In terms of driver assistance and safety features, the WagonR is equipped with safety features like dual airbags, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), front seat belts reminder, high-speed alert system, and rear parking sensors that are standard across variants. It now also features Hill-Hold Assist in AGS variants preventing the vehicle from rolling back on inclined slopes and in stop-start traffic conditions to ensure maximum control of the car. The New WagonR can also be owned through Maruti Suzuki's subscription program at an all-inclusive monthly subscription fee starting from Rs. 12,300 per month. It continues to rival the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago among others.
