Hero MotoCorp Eyes 20 per cent Market Share in Scooter Segment

The company has been consistently clocking good sales and the year-on-year growth is a significant one. In October this year the company sold 1.08 lakh scooters while the overall sales stood at 6.04 lakh units. The company has a market share of 14 per cent in the scooter segment and has offerings like the 100cc Pleasure and 110cc Maestro, which are consistently among the top three best-selling scooters in India.
With the launch of the Duet, Hero is certainly taking things to a new level and the company expects that this model will help push the market share up to 20 per cent in the first year of the launch. Hero's current scooter capacity is 1.3 million units per year, with production of more than 6.5 lakh scooters.

The Hero Centre of Global Innovation and R&D at Jaipur in Rajasthan will commence operations by the third quarter of 2016 third quarter but the company is looking at fast tracking the development of its innovation led portfolio.
The Maestro Edge was launched in September this year while the Duet was launched in a phased manner. The Maestro Edge is available in LX and VX trims and is priced in the range of 49,500 - 50,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the Maestro Edge with its rough looks targets male buyers, the Duet is a unisex scooter. Both the scooters feature a new 110cc air-cooled engine that is good for 8.31bhp of power at 8000rpm, and 8.30Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Both the scooters feature front telescopic suspension along with combined braking system.
