Tata Motors is all set to launch the long-range version of its all-electric subcompact SUV - the Tata Nexon EV Max on May 11. While technical details and range have not been revealed yet, the SUV is expected to come with a bigger 40 kWh battery with a claimed range of over 400 km. Apart from that, based on the teasers released by the company the electric SUV will now also come with a new rotary dial for transmission, electronic parking brake and auto-hold function. And these features are certainly expected to bump up the price of the upcoming Tata Nexon EV Max.

Now, the regular Nexon EV is offered in three variants - XM, XZ and XZ LUX, with Dark Edition options of the latter two trims, and it's priced from Rs. 14.54 lakh to Rs. 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In the case of the long-range Nexon EV Max, we expect it to be sold alongside the existing model, and given the bigger battery pack and new features, the EV is likely to receive a hike of Rs. 2-3 lakh and will be priced around Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Visually, the new long-range Tata Nexon EV Max will largely remain identical to the regular model, however, we do expect to see the addition of a 'Max' badge on the EV. The cabin too is largely expected to remain unchanged. However, the car will come with an updated centre console, featuring a new rotary dial with a display unit that shows you the mode you are in, along with some other features.

The existing Tata Nexon EV draws power from a permanent-magnet AC motor that is paired with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motor is tuned for 127 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque and can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 120 kmph. The IP67 rated battery pack is water-resistant and offers an ARAI certified range of 312 km on a single charge. Tata offers a 3.3 kW onboard charger with the Nexon EV that can fully charge in eight hours. Meanwhile, a 25 kW DC fast charger will charge the vehicle from 0-80 per cent in 60 minutes.
