The Bajaj Chetak is being sold in spurts with bookings open for a brief period and in limited numbers. The last time Bajaj opened bookings for the scooter was in April this year, which was closed in just two days as the order books were full. At the time, prices for the Chetak stood at Rs. 1.42 lakh for the Urbane variant, and at Rs. 1.44 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom) for the Premium variant. Prices are likely to see a revision under the reworked FAME II subsidy. The company though has not shared the new prices of the model yet.
The Bajaj Chetak is powered by the 3.8 kW PMS motor that develops about 5 bhp and 16.2 Nm of peak torque. The motor draws power from the 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that promises a range of 80 km on a single charge, which can go up to 95 km in the Eco mode. The top speed on the scooter is around 70 kmph. The Chetak can be charged via a standard three-pin charging socket and takes about six to eight hours for a full charge.
