Maruti Suzuki India to Resume Production at Gurugram Plant

Highlights
- Maruti Suzuki has resumed certain operations at Manesar Plant too
- Company working on options to obtain components from other facilities
- Maruti claims it will gradually bring operations back to normal soon
Due to an unfortunate fire accident at the Manesar facilities of its top suppliers - Subros Limited, Maruti Suzuki had to temporarily stop vehicle production at its plants on Monday May 30. Subros was Maruti's largest supplier of air conditioning system and the disruption in supply of components led to the suspension of production. Now the company has resumed vehicle production in one of its plants and is currently working with Subros on options to obtain supply of components from other facilities. Maruti has claimed that it will gradually bring operations back to normal soon.

As mentioned earlier the company will also resume certain operations at the Manesar facility, including casting and production of transmissions, which does not require components from Subros. That said the company is yet to release a definite date as to when the plant will be completely operational. Moreover Subros is also a major supplier to other leading carmakers like - Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault Nissan Alliance, and Force Motors among others. But as of now none of the other manufacturers have reported a disruption of vehicle production at their facilities.
This is not the first time Maruti has faced production problems this year. Earlier in February, the company had to suspend production at the same plants due to the Jaat protest in Haryana. As a result of that incident the company saw a considerable decrease in production units resulting in lower sales volume. Similarly we will be able to see the effect of this production halt too in the company's future sales report.
