Maruti Suzuki Is The Biggest UV Manufacturer For Q1 FY18

The Vitara Brezza and the Ertiga have been the driving force behind Maruti Suzuki's dominance in the UV segment in India. The Vitara Brezza has been a runaway success for the company ever since it was launched in March 2016.

The fact that Maruti Suzuki is the biggest utility vehicle maker for the first quarter of FY18 is hardly a surprise. The company reported sales of 57,125 utility vehicle units which included the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and the S-Cross. In comparison, the Q1 sales of FY17 were 39,348 units. The percentage increase over the year was a massive 45 per cent. The company's market share in the B-segment of automobiles increased by 7.7 per cent in the first quarter of FY18. For the time-period of April-June 2017, Maruti Suzuki's share in the B-segment was a total of 29.3 per cent as against 21.5 per cent in FY17. (Maruti Suzuki Ertiga) The Vitara Brezza compact SUV has proved to be a runaway success for the company in the last one year. Ever since its launch in March 2016, the company has sold over 1.45 lakh units. If we speak about the Ertiga, the company has sold over 3.42 lakh units since it was launched in early 2012. The Q1 FY18 sales of the Ertiga stand at over 18,700 units. It was also the first ever MUV to have a mild-hybrid diesel technology. But the very next month, in June 2017, the sales figures took a tumble on account of GST. The difference was a massive 4,136 units.
