New-Gen Suzuki Swift Goes On Sale In Thailand

Just days after the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift in India, Suzuki has now introduced the third-generation of the Swift in Thailand. Available in four variants, GA, GL, GLX, and top-end GLX-Navi, the new-gen Suzuki Swift is priced in Thailand starting from THB 499,000 going up to THB 629,000 (approx. Rs. 10.26 lakh to Rs. 12.94 lakh). Mechanically, the Thailand-spec Suzuki Swift hatchback is offered with only one petrol engine on offer, with a CVT automatic transmission as standard.

New Thai-spec Suzuki Swift gets a 1.2-litre engine with a CVT unit
Under the hood, the new Suzuki Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine that churns out a maximum of 82 bhp and develops a peak torque of 108 Nm. As mentioned above the motor is paired with a CVT automatic transmission as standard. In terms of dimensions, the Thai-spec Swift remains largely similar to the India-spec model, but the latter is slightly taller at 1530 mm compared to the 1495 mm height of the Thai Swift. The Thailand-spec Suzuki Swift is also 30 kg heavier with a kerb weight of up to 910 km compared to the India-spec Swift.

Visually, the new Suzuki Swift looks largely similar to the India-spec model save for the fact that it gets a different mesh grille with a red stripe that runs across, above the black plastic cladding. The projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps and rest of the exterior equipment remain unchanged. On the other hand, the Thai-spec Swift doesn't get the new Orange share introduced in India but instead gets Super Black Pearl shade, which is not available in India.

Some of the key features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and even navigation, automatic climate control, cruise control, and keyless entry and push-button start. On the safety front, the Swift gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TCS, hill hold assist and engine idling stop feature as standard. However, the top-spec model gets a total of six airbags.
