New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Spotted Testing In India Again

Highlights
- The next generation Ertiga shares its underpinnings with the new Swift
- Maruti might introduce premium features like projector headlamps and DRLs
- The new generation Maruti Suzuki is expected to offer better cabin space
The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been under works for a while now and a test mule of the upcoming MPV was recently spotted testing in India again. Like the previously seen test mules of the next-gen Ertiga, this particular prototype was also heavily disguised in black camouflage to hide the exterior updates. The MPV is expected to be introduced in India later this year, possibly in the second half of 2018, but Maruti might showcase a pre-production model of the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018.

New-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be lighted, more rigid and well equipped
The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Eritiga will be based on the same Heartect design philosophy that also underpins the new-gen Dzire and the upcoming next-gen Swift hatchback. This means, in addition to some extensive design and styling updates, the upcoming new-gen Ertiga will also see some dimensional changes. Having said that, the MPV will continue to come in its existing 7-seater layout but unlike the current model, the new Ertiga might get a slightly more spacious cabin. Some of which we have already seen in some earlier spy shots. Also, being based on the new platform, the new-gen Ertiga will also be lighter and more rigid, which means improvement in driving dynamics as well.
Right now, it's too soon to comment on what the new Ertiga will actually look like, especially considering the fact that even in these images we can only see the rear portion of the MPV. What we do see is a new pair of taillamps, larger rear overhangs, and a rear windshield wiper. Among the changes that we do expect the new Ertiga to get include a new face with new projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights, new grille and bumper, stylish alloy wheels, a revised cabin with a redesigned dashboard and better safety and comfort features.
Under the hood, Maruti could continue using the 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine while reports suggest that the company's newly developed 1.5-litre diesel engine is likely to replace the ageing 1.3-litre four-cylinder oil burner, sourced from Fiat. Transmission options will include the 5-speed manual on both engine options, while Maruti will also offer an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as well.
