Triumph Announces Prices and Specs of the 2016 Speed Triple

Highlights
Triumph Motorcycles presented two versions of the 2016 Street Triple at the EICMA 2015 - Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R. The new streetfighters from the British motorcycle manufacturer not only look new and fresh, but also possess a tweaked engine to deliver a better response and smoother performance.
The new Street Triple looks longer, sits low, and looks more aggressive than its predecessor. The oval headlamps, with in-built DRLs, also sit a little low on the forks making it look more intimidating. The narrower fuel tank has been redesigned to make the filler cap the tallest thing on the motorcycle. The bar-end mirrors surely add to the overall sex appeal of the motorcycle. The part of the seat, which meets the tank, has been reduced by almost an inch in width. This will give the riders more confidence to grab the tank with their knees at high speeds.
Engine capacity remains the same, but that is about the only thing that is similar. New cylinder head and pistons have been designed to provide better response in the midrange without sacrificing the top end. Between 4,000 and 7,000rpm, the bike is said to be 6.7 to 9.5Nm more torquey than before. The rider can choose from five rider modes and can also configure traction control. Triumph also claims 17% improved fuel efficiency over the previous model. The R variant gets Ohlins road-and-track suspension at the front and an Ohlins monoshock at the rear. The Speed Triple R also loads of carbon fibre parts including the front mudguard.
The 1050cc, three-cylinder engine now delivers 140bhp at 9,500rpm and 112Nm at 7,800rpm. Dry weight of the new Speed Triple is 192kgs (dry) and has a fuel capacity of 15.5 litres.
The new Triumph Speed Triple S has been priced at £10,200 (Rs. 9.86lakh), and the Speed Triple R costs £11,500 (Rs. 11.12 lakh).
