Indian Springfield Officially Goes On Sale; Priced At Rs. 31.07 Lakh

Although the Springfield was announced for India back in April this year, Indian Motorcycle has officially launched the model now, priced at Rs. 31.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). Deriving its name from the brand's hometown, the 2016 Indian Springfield brings together classic styling with modern technology.

Legendary cruiser maker Indian Motorcycle has been one of the fastest growing premium two wheeler brands in the country and the company has now expanded its line-up with the all-new Springfield cruiser. Although the Springfield was announced for India back in April this year, the company has officially launched the model now, priced at Rs. 31.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). Deriving its name from the brand's hometown, the 2016 Indian Springfield brings together classic styling with modern technology.
"The Indian Springfield is one of the best bikes in our product portfolio as it offers the best mix of touring comfort and urban versatility through its blend of classic styling and comprehensive modern technology," EPPL and Polaris India CEO & Director Pankaj Dubey said in a statement.
Though related to the Indian Chief family, the Indian Springfield has been developed with a unique new trunk-compatible chassis for higher loading capacity and a premium touring experience that does not compromise handling ability. The styling is every bit iconic and vintage and includes glorified lines, curves, immaculate paint job and much more; keeping the heritage intact.
Power comes from the Thunder Stroke 111 engine that develops 138.9Nm of torque at 2600rpm. Its cast aluminium chassis has been designed to handle a wide load range and comes equipped with cartridge forks and an air adjustable rear shock with 11.43cm of travel. As a result, the cruiser comes with a kerb weight of a rather hefty 241.7 kg.
The Indian Springfield is a premium cruiser and comes with a host of tech on board including a bespoke quick-release windshield, remote locking hard bags and adjustable passenger floorboards. With respect to safety, the cruiser gets ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Cruise Control, electronic fuel gauge with real-time fuel economy display.
Having started operations with three dealerships last year, the demand for Indian cruisers have been overwhelming. For the current year, the company is expecting to achieve a sales growth of 20-25 per cent over the previous one, while it is also in the process of expanding its presence across the country. Indian opened five new outlets this year, and will soon set shop in Cochin and Jaipur.
Indian's next launch will be the Chieftain Dark Horse in the following months.
