Maruti Suzuki has revealed that it now has 500 driving schools open across the country, a milestone number it has reached in 17 years. The company opened the doors of its first driving school in 2005 and over the years has provided driver training to over 1.7 million customers. Maruti's driving schools are set up in partnership with local dealers and provide training through a hybrid system using state-of-the-art driving simulators, on-road driving and classroom training.

Speaking on the milestone, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki Driving Schools were launched with the core objective of imparting safe driving training and road behaviour among customers to make Indian roads safer. Over the years, it has introduced global standards for imparting quality driving training and setting new benchmarks through its advanced training methodology.”

Maruti says that its driving schools offer customised courses based on an individual's learning needs. Aside from running training courses for private individuals, Maruti Suzuki has also partnered with various corporates, fleet owners and NGOs to jointly conduct driver training programs. The company says that people attending its driver schools also get some add-on services such as assistance in getting a driver's license and training in their personal vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki has said that it has plans to further expand its driving school count in the coming years with plans to reach 2.5 million customers by 2025.
