  • The Honda CBS first made an appearance in March, 2009

While Honda Two Wheelers is the biggest company in the two-wheeler segment in India, it does not believe in resting on its laurels. Safety has always been at the forefront of HMSI and the biggest testimony to the same is the fact that the Japanese company has sold over 1 crore two-wheelers (including scooters and motorcycles) which are fitted with Honda's patented Combi-Braking system.

Honda CB Hornet 160R Bike(Honda CB Hornet 160R also gets the CBS as an option)

Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "In 2009, Honda become the first two-wheeler company in India to introduce the proven CBS technology with the unique Equalizer advantage. We are delighted to share that in just 7 years, over 1 crore satisfied Indian customers are riding confidently with the CBS advantage that Honda has given them much ahead of the times. Today, every 2nd Honda two-wheeler customer is now choosing the convenience of CBS with Equalizer technology."

Simply put, the Combi-Braking system makes light work of braking by applying the rear brake along with the front brake. Also, in order to optimise the braking force, Honda has fitted the CBS system with an Equaliser. The Equaliser distributes the braking force proportionately between the front and the rear tyres when the rider simply presses the left lever in all Honda scooters or the rear brake in all Honda motorcycles. Not only does this reduce the braking distance but it also keeps the two-wheeler stable under severe braking.

The Combi-Braking system is available on all Honda scooters which are the Activa 3G, Activa i, Dio, Aviator and the Activa 125. As far as motorcycles are concerned, the CBS system can be specified optionally in the CB Shine, CB Shine SP, CB Unicorn 160 and the CB Hornet160 R.
