Kawasaki Versys 650 to Be Launched in India on December 24

Highlights
It will be the second Versys model to be launched in India by Kawasaki this year, which has currently become one of the most popular performance motorcycle brands in India. In terms of looks the Kawasaki Versys 650 takes a lot of inspiration from its older sibling along with its own unique design cues. The bike has been designed on a double pipe diamond frame made from high-tensile steel with long travel upside down telescopic fork suspension at the front and a single offset laydown shock absorber with remote adjustable spring at the rear.
Coming to its styling, the Kawasaki Versys 650 offers some similar features as the Versys 1000, like the dual sharp headlamps, adjustable windscreen, large chiselled fuel tank, muscular front fenders and LED tail lamps. Additionally the bike comes with adjustable handle bars, wide comfortable two-piece seat and a ground clearance of 170mm.

The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 120/17 and 160/60 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. Breaking duties are manned by dual 300mm petal discs with 2-piston calipers at the front and single 250mm petal disc at the rear with single piston caliper. The global model comes with ABS as standard and judging by the recent emphasis on ABS for motorcycles in India, we expect the Indian model to offer the same.
As for its powerhouse, the Kawasaki Versys 650 packs a 649cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four valves per cylinder parallel twin with direct fuel injection and 38mm Keihin throttle bodies. The engine is good for a maximum of 68bhp and a peak torque of 63.7Nm, while mates to a six-speed transmission.
